A popular social network focused on photos and short videos, Instagram, is celebrating its 11th birthday today. Unfortunately, this opportunity is currently overshadowed by a huge outage on Monday, when several Facebook services did not work for several hours. So far, it does not look like Instagram plans to engage in any form of celebration as it was last year at the jubilee.

However, a certain form of celebration was surprisingly launched by the mobile operator Telekom, which offers its customers the Endless Connection package for 10 days with a 50% discount. During Wednesday 6 October 2021, the package can be activated for € 2. Customers will have a connection with speeds of 1/1 Mbps available within 10 days of activation, which they can also use to follow news on social networks.

We had to wait for Android

Although today Instagram officially celebrates its birthday, as users of Android smartphones, we have seen the release of the application on a completely different date. Thus, 11 years ago, the application was released only for the iOS platform, it arrived on Android much later. Specifically, this did not happen until April 3, 2012. In a single day, it was downloaded by more than a million users.

Shortly afterwards, Instagram bought Facebook for $ 1 billion and is part of its portfolio to this day. The social network has undergone several changes over the years, a number of new functions have been added, videos, for example, have gained more space, and there has also been a close connection with shopping services.

Today, Instagram enjoys immense popularity, becoming an important marketing tool for many brands.
