Instagram app on iPad is not coming (for now): too little interest

It seems that the iPad will not get its own app for Instagram for the time being. That is what the head of Instagram says in a message on Twitter.

No Instagram app for iPad for now

The rumors of a real Instagram app for the iPad have been circulating for some time, but that seems to be coming to an end for the time being. We know this following a conversation on Twitter between Adam Mosseri (the head of Instagram) and YouTuber Marques Brownlee.

On Twitter, Adam Mosseri said he regularly gets the question from a special Instagram app for the iPad. But he also said that at the moment the group is still too small to prioritize it. This means that there will be no Instagram app for iPad for the time being.

The best way to use Instagram on iPad

Fortunately, there are several ways to view Instagram on your iPad. Which one you prefer, you have to try for yourself.

Open Instagram in Safari

The easiest way is to open Instagram from Safari on your iPad, but this doesn’t work very well. The buttons are in different places and the menu options are less suitable for the dimensions of the iPad. You do have the advantage here that the entire screen of the iPad is used.

We do have a tip for Instagram in Safari on the iPad: use your tablet in the width (landscape), then the website works just a bit better.

Using iPhone app on iPad

Another option is to use the iPhone’s Instagram app on your iPad, but that too has drawbacks. When you use the iPhone app on your iPad, only a small part of the screen is used. You can of course enlarge the image using the button at the bottom right, but that still doesn’t make the app fill the screen.
