Indestructible Apple Watch Ultra vs Hammer – Who Wins?

The Apple Watch Ultra is almost indestructible, according to Apple. But how does the Apple Watch Ultra stack up against a hammer?

Read on after the ad.

Apple Watch Ultra: an indestructible screen

The new Apple Watch Ultra is Apple’s most rugged smartwatch ever. In addition, it is the most robust, extreme and durable Apple Watch. Time to put it to the test.

Fortunately, we don’t have to do this ourselves. A YouTuber subjected it to a drop test (much like the iPhone 14) and an encounter with a jar of nails. However, it was a bit of a shock when the Apple Watch Ultra received some serious blows from a hammer.

Apple Watch Ultra vs Hammer: Who Will Break?

TechRax is a YouTube channel that conducts experiments like this more often. In the above video you can see that the Apple Watch Ultra remained largely unscathed after a drop test. There were some scratches, but this watch certainly survives a fall. The same goes for the pot with nails and screws. The Apple Watch Ultra therefore also seems suitable for the avid handyman. Or not?

The YouTube channel also tested the durability of the Apple Watch Ultra “sapphire crystal” display. This was tested by hitting the screen several times with a hammer. The watch survived the first few blows (but the table below didn’t).

But after a few hefty taps, the smartwatch screen gave up. Let’s just assume most people won’t be repeatedly hitting the Apple Watch Ultra with a hammer. So you can assume that as a carpenter you can also wear an Apple Watch Ultra.

I Tested Apple Watch Ultra In A Dive Chamber

This Apple Watch is made for the deep-sea diver

The Apple Watch Ultra is not necessarily marketed to wear while doing odd jobs. Apple previously announced this rugged smartwatch for adventurers and extreme sports enthusiasts. One of those sports is scuba diving.

Another YouTube channel, the Dutch DC Rainmaker, also tested the durability of this watch (deep) underwater. Well, ‘under water’. He was able to simulate deep-sea diving with a special water tank. According to Apple, the Apple Watch Ultra can stay on your wrist up to a depth of 100 meters, without the watch breaking.

However, the app that comes with it only goes up to 40 meters. This is more than enough for recreational scuba diving. This one only goes up to 130 feet, or 39 meters. The Oceanic+ app, due this fall, can measure higher pressures than this. It’s nice to see that the Apple Watch Ultra lives up to its name.
