Sometimes it’s just about the money. Because a certain standard of living also requires a certain salary – not to mention reserves for old age. That’s why we present: Six jobs where you can earn a lot of money.

What did you actually want to be as a child? Many may still remember being asked about their career aspirations by parents, teachers or relatives as a child.

For decades, some clichéd answers have been: police officer, firefighter, veterinarian or astronaut. In the meantime, however, the career aspirations of young people and children have changed. A non-negligible part can imagine a future as an influencer, for example.

6 jobs where you can earn a lot of money

But what is the harsh reality like? With which jobs and in which professions can one actually earn a lot of money in Germany in 2023? The job portal Stepstone has also dealt with this question and one salary report created for this year.

The goal: Get rid of the taboo topic of salary. To determine the highest-paying jobs, the job experts analyzed over 561,761 compensation data sets for the period January 2021 to November 2022. In the following overview we present you some of the results, namely: Six professions in which you can earn a lot of money.

1. Doctors

According to Stepstone, doctors in Germany earn an average of 97,983 euros gross. With professional experience of more than eleven years, up to 112,579 euros are even possible. The so-called gender pay gap, i.e. the wage gap between men and women, is minus 13.44 percent in the industry.

2. Finance and Insurance Clerks

In banking, finance and insurance, the average gross annual salary with academic training is around
62,894 euros. According to Stepstone, without a degree it is 45,623 euros gross per year. With management responsibility as a CFO, you can even get up to 113,691 euros. The gender pay gap in the industry is minus 20.19 percent.

3. IT people

According to the salary report for 2023, employees in the IT industry earn an average of 60,531 euros gross per year with a degree. Without academic training, the gross annual salary is around 48,220 euros. The highest average salary is 63,982 euros as an IT project manager. Gender pay gap: minus 7.88 percent.

4. Business Advisor

In the consulting area, the average gross annual salary with academic training is EUR 59,973. According to Stepstone, without a degree, the gross annual salary is around 10,000 less. With 72,565 euros, employees with the title “Senior Consultant” bag the highest salary. The gender pay gap is minus 9.17 percent.

5. Engineers

In engineering, the average gross annual salary with a degree is EUR 59,902 and EUR 49,438 without an academic qualification. In companies with more than 5,000 employees, the average is even up to 63,000 euros. The gender pay gap in the industry is minus 11.32 percent.

6. Salesperson

As a key account manager, a gross annual salary of up to 67,067 euros is possible in sales. On average in the industry with academic training it is 59,867 euros, without a degree 41,886 euros. According to Stepstone, the gender pay gap in sales is relatively high at minus 25.4 percent.
