If you think you have everything neatly arranged on holiday, it turns out that you have forgotten that one essential item.

To forget

Oh, I wish I hadn’t bragged like that. Once at the campsite it turned out that I had forgotten the air mattresses and sleeping bags. Not a second thought. That was a hefty bite out of our holiday budget, because they didn’t charge Action prices in the French camping shop and we had to sleep on something anyway.”

“We went to Lake Garda in Italy for a week with my best friend and our children. I drove and had our caravan with me. The ride went well and at the campsite we were allocated a fantastic spot, close to the water, on a hedge.

“Driving skills! But how are you going to get in later?”

When I arrived I saw some men frowning: a woman behind the wheel? Just in front of a few tough guys I steered the caravan backwards, along a bend and so tight along the hedge. As I proudly got out, I heard such a man say: ‘Steering skills! But how are you going to get in later?” It turned out that I had parked the caravan exactly the wrong way round.”
