iAddict v5: a new app that brings together news from our KultureGeek and iPhoneAddict sites

iAddict V5 is out (App Store Link – Free – iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch), and this time, despite the version number, it is indeed a brand new application (not an update), iAddict v4 and the KultureGeek app being reserved for “old” Apple devices. Why this choice ? Because the new app has been developed from a clean sheet, internally and in Swift/SwiftUI, which guarantees optimal compatibility from iOS 15 or even watchOS 8. More dynamic presentation, completely revised graphic charter, implementation of widgets of several sizes, the changes will necessarily jump to the eyes… but it’s not just cosmetics on the menu, far from it.

Our new app iAddict v5 indeed offers several modifications which should greatly improve your moments of “fishing for the news”, at least we hope so. Thus, you will have access to the last 25 articles of each category in addition to a complete history of the sites iPhoneAddict and KultureGeek (because yes, the two sites are now merged into the same app but with different tabs), and can view articles in offline mode (without a network connection). In the settings, you will have the choice to open the application on the iPhoneAddict or KultureGeek tab.

As for iAddict v4, iAddict v5 also offers customizable push notifications, the possibility of commenting on and sharing articles on all messaging systems and social networks, the display of good deals (App Store application promotions, iTunes films, high-tech products), as well as access to “live” Apple conferences via the Keynote tab also developed in Swift (instead of a simple Webview).

To access unread or favorite articles, simply press the iAddict image. We’ve also added a list for Read Later articles.

And of course, iCloud synchronization is included (finally!) as well as Spotlight search to find articles via keywords.

We offer a total of 7 widgets: a widget for each site in small, medium and large size as well as an extra large version on iPad combining the two sites. A widget on the lock screen is also available for each site. It displays the title of the last published article.

A premium mode for more customization

Our most avid readers will be able to turn to our premium subscription offer, the latter allowing you to benefit from certain advantages such as:

• Removal of advertising
• Additional settings (choice of wallpaper from the 25 available, choice of app icon, compact mode, full screen in articles, etc.)
• Added features (research,…)
• … without forgetting the support of an independent team

For iAddict v4 subscribers, it is unfortunately not possible to transfer the subscription between the two applications. We invite you to delete the subscription on v4 and subscribe to the new iAddict v5 app.

Depending on the type of subscription you have taken (only iPhoneAddict, or iPhoneAddict and KultureGeek) and the remaining time we can generate an iTunes code to offer you additional time on the new application to compensate for the loss.
