A more intense daily life due to the number of children or no longer receiving partner alimony. Despite that, these blended families are a lot happier now that they are together.

Rebecca (35), mother of Otis (7) and Phileine (5):

When the kids came home from school on Monday, I told them I’d met a man and if they liked it when he came over for dinner. That worked out so well that my children asked him that night if he stayed over too. Marlon has no children of her own, so one plus one equals two.

Not a day without each other

Remco (40), father of Tim (10), Lars (7) and Fedde (6):

When we introduced the kids to each other four months after we met on a dating site, we soon didn’t spend a day without each other. Her ex is out of the picture, she could go wherever she wanted. So we lived together after six months.

“We never want anything else. Even if it is intense, with four boys growing up under one roof”

That was two years ago now and we never want anything else. Even if it is intense, with four growing boys under one roof. For that one weekend every two weeks, we specially converted the garage into a game room, now we don’t hear them all day.”
