Huawei P50 Pocket Official: Top Folding Flagship

Huawei recently introduced its latest flagship model, which we have been waiting for a long time. The last flags were the models from the P40 and Mate 40 Pro series, if we do not count the P50 series, which did not reach us. We do not know yet whether the Huawei P50 Pocket will enter the Slovak market, but it is possible. Huawei Central informed about the performance.

Huawei P50 Pocket is a folding smartphone in the style of Motorola razr or Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3. During production, the manufacturer also focused on the joint, which should be even stronger and of better quality. It allows the smartphone to open or close smoothly.

The Huawei P50 Pocket has a 120 Hz folding display

The main flexible display is completely hidden when closed, so there is no risk of scratches. When opened, it has a diagonal of 6.9 inches and an aspect ratio of 21: 9. By comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip3 has an aspect ratio of 22: 9. It has FullHD + resolution and a density of 442 pixels per inch. It is a 120 Hz panel with an excellent 300 Hz response to touch.

At the top of the device in the closed state there is a secondary round OLED display, which will be used to receive notifications, informing about the current time. It has a diameter of exactly 1 ″.

Potential camera

There is a camera in the same circle, which consists of three sensors. The main one has a resolution of 50 megapixels and a brightness of f / 1.8. It is complemented by a 13 MP ultra-wide angle sensor and an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization.

The performance is taken care of by the well-known old Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. Although it is not the latest chipset, it is still one of the most modern and powerful. It is made by a 5 nm production process and can handle any activity, even demanding gaming. Due to US restrictions, this processor is only present in the 4G version, 5G is missing.

It is supplemented in the highest variant with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The equipment also includes Wi-Fi support 6 and a fingerprint sensor, which is located on the side of the device. The smartphone weighs 190 grams, when folded its thickness is 15.2 mm, when unfolded it is only 7.2 mm.

The battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh and fast SuperCharge charging with a power of 40 W is also available.

Huawei P50 Pocket: Price and availability

The novelty will be available in three color variants. Black and white are the basic colors, but a special gold edition will also be available. What makes us happier is that the P50 Pocket could also reach the Slovak market, but only in the first two colors. The gold will be specially designed for the domestic Chinese market.

The price of the Huawei P50 Pocket starts at 8988 yuan (approx. 1250 euros) for the variant with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. The premium version with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage will cost approximately € 1,526. Please note that these prices are Chinese. If the news reaches us, the prices will probably be higher.

Competition

The competition for this smartphone will be mainly folding models from other manufacturers. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 has similar equipment with Google services, but a weaker battery and probably weaker endurance. Huawei will probably be more expensive.

An interesting choice is the Motorola razr 5G, but it does not have the parameters of a Huawei, nor does it have battery capacity or charging.
