Huawei is reportedly working on its own game console
No time right now?
Anyone trying to buy a PS5 knows that the console market is clearly lucrative. There are increasing rumors from China that Huawei wants to offer its own console.
Given the difficult position Huawei has got into as a result of the US boycott, it is not surprising that the Chinese manufacturer is trying to find other market segments where the ban is not too strong.

Huawei wants to bring gaming notebook line
Huawei had already focused more on notebooks last year. However, only the subsidiary brand Honor at the time had to offer a real gaming notebook with the Hunter V700. In 2020, gaming notebooks from the core brand Huawei were also expected, but ultimately not presented. A dedicated gaming offer for 2021 is now a foregone conclusion. At least that’s reported Gizchina citing reports from other Chinese media.
Allegedly, Huawei does not want to stop at gaming notebooks for current games, but also want to compete in the console market.
Gamers soon on the Huawei Series Mate XY? There is no official name, but apparently the Chinese company is working on a console. Huawei would have to compete with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, but their delivery bottlenecks show that demand is huge. Is it huge enough to warrant another provider?
Success possible with the right strategy
Observers believe that a Huawei console has a chance of success if it were based on Apple’s strategy. A Huawei console with Harmony OS and well-implemented game apps could go in the direction of Apple TV and Arcade.
There is probably agreement that a console that would only access PC games, for example, would have little chance of economic success. The gaming platform Steam had already learned this from Valve when it tried to implement its own hardware with the Steam Machine.
What is true of the rumors cannot be seriously judged. Huawei has not yet officially commented on this.
