How to listen to your music while exercising

The right beat is of great importance for sporting success. But listening to music while exercising often requires several apps. That’s why we explain how to successfully activate the Strava Spotify integration. It only takes a few moments and is very convenient.

Jogging or cycling – these are all sports for loners. It is best not to see other people for several hours. Runners, cyclists and other individuals who play individual sports still hear this prejudice.

But the digitization and social networking of our lives does not literally stop at sport. The best example of this is this founded in 2009 in San Francisco social network Strava.

Social networking in sports with Strava: The competitive factor

The app makes it easy to record numerous sports with your smartphone with just a few pushes of a button. This puts an end to the manual measurement of kilometers run, hiked or swum.

And what would a social network be without friends? You read that right: Strava has taken the idea of social networks to sports – and it works extremely well.

You can network with your friends and training partners via friend requests. This way you can see how other members are doing and leave encouraging comments or likes.

Additional motivation during sports through the right music

In addition to the praise and cheering on friends and acquaintances, there is a second major motivation for sports enthusiasts: music. On the one hand, it’s about listening to your favorite band to make the last few kilometers a lot more bearable, even in the rain.

On the other hand – and this factor should not be neglected – the right frequency can actually influence your running speed. If the beats per minute (BPM) of your music match your heart, you will increase your performance significantly.

Enable Strava Spotify integration: A step-by-step guide

Fortunately, a Strava Spotify integration has finally been available for a few days. That means: As a Strava user and Spotify user, you can finally combine your passion for music with your passion for sports.

In the following, we want to explain to you how to link the two apps correctly and quickly.

  1. Open Strava on your smartphone. (Alternatively, you can do the entire process on the PC.)
  2. From the home screen, click the record icon in the center at the bottom of the screen.
  3. The Spotify symbol now appears in the same bar on the next page.
  4. Click on it and then click on the visible play button.

After that, all you have to do is give permission and the Strava Spotify integration is complete.

Your music for your next sports session

Once you have completed linking the two services, you can conveniently listen to music while exercising. What is particularly practical: The playlist or the songs that you last heard on Spotify anyway now simply continue to run in the Strava app.

If you spontaneously search for music while running or cycling, the selection is currently limited to (own) playlists, mixtapes created by Spotify, artist radio, shows and podcasts. The full search function is not (yet) available to you.
