How do you ensure that your friends/colleagues pay you back?

The festival and terrace season is slowly starting again and that means that there are more financial settlements of receipts. Are you someone who often pays the bill? Some people have a rule that, for example, they do not send Tikkies under 10 euros, but simply leave it alone. Or maybe you have an understanding with one friend that everyone takes turns paying the full bill, while within your family, for example, you send a payment request via the bank so that everything is arranged immediately. It seems to be very Dutch to split bills, so to ensure that you immediately pay for yourself in a restaurant. It is also a much-discussed topic: one thinks that if others drink alcohol, they should pay more than the rest, while the other does not really care.

Tikkie is still a widely used app, despite the fact that more and more banks have come up with their own payment request-like constructions within their banking apps. Tikkie was once developed by ABN Amro, so it is not a joint initiative of banks, as iDeal is. In 2022, Tikkie had more than 8 million users and a total of 130 million Tikkies were sent that year (a total of 5.5 billion euros). You would think that summer is especially a popular Tikkie moment, but November 25 was the busiest day on the app with 530,000 Tikkies. Although that probably has to do with the football match of the Dutch national team that day.
