Hogwarts Legacy – Upgrade Gear & Change Traits

With your equipment in Hogwarts Legacy, you will certainly have noticed that these sometimes have free socket slots and can also be upgraded with upgrades. But how and where can you do that exactly? At this point we show you how you can improve equipment and change properties.

Improve equipment – prerequisite

Like so many other features in Hogwarts Legacy, this too will Upgrading equipment only unlocked with a certain progression in the story. First of all, you have to unlock the Room of Requirement. Then continue to follow the story missions until you get to the 28. Main Mission “The Elf, the Snapsack and the Loom” have arrived.

During this mission you will learn the ability to capture and care for magical beasts. If you feed and brush the beasts, you get upgrade materials from them that you need to upgrade equipment.

A little later in the mission you will automatically place one Loom in the Room of Requirement. Here you can improve equipment and change properties. Each piece of equipment can be upgraded in up to three stages, increasing either offense or defense.

Depending on your gear, you will need materials from other beasts. The higher the quality of the equipment, the rarer animal materials you have to acquire.

Change and remove properties

You can also equip equipment with free sockets Miss features at the loom. Depending on the property, they improve the effectiveness of certain spells, for example. For example, you unlock new properties by completing the numerous combat challenges in the game.

By the way, you can always replace traits with other traits, as long as you have enough beast materials. You will not get this refunded. You cannot remove properties, you can only “overwrite” them with other properties.
