Highway Fairy Tales keeps the children sweet in the backseat with stories
The car brand Volkswagen launches the app Highway Fairy Tales to also create a reading moment in the car. The app works on all highways in the Netherlands and the story can vary by weather conditions.
Interactive story for children
Volkswagen has released an app that can entertain parents and children in the car with an interactive story. The app is just in time for the National Reading Days next week. During the interactive story, which works on every highway in the Netherlands, various objects are included around the same road. The fairy tales are supplemented with weather elements, traffic and time.
“Highway Fairy Tales from Volkswagen creates an extra read-out moment for the whole family in an innovative way, because the (pre) reading of digital children’s books has a positive effect on the narrative, language development and vocabulary. in a printed book are not possible, such as films, a spoken version and a dictionary, which improve the understanding, language development and vocabulary “, says Gerlien van Dalen, the director of the Reading Foundation
For the stories, Volkswagen has appealed to four well-known writers including Herman van Veen and Daan Remmerts de Vries.The Snelweg Sprookjes app can be downloaded for free from the app stores and is intended for children from 5 to 11 years.
