Here’s how to use the palm timer in the camera app on your Pixel phone

June’s Pixel Feature Drop comes with a new feature that lets you launch your Pixel’s self-timer using the palm of your hand. Androidworld explains why and how you can use this handy feature on your Pixel.

What is a palm timer?

You can now easily use the self-timer to take photos with a Google Pixel 6 or newer Pixel phone. You do this by simply lifting your palm. Then the self-timer is automatically activated after you have set it to 3 or 10 seconds.

How do you use the palm timer?

Do you also want the palm timer to easily take a group photo without having to run to the group if you want to be on it yourself? Then turn on the function in the camera app on your Pixel phone by following the steps below.

  1. Open the camera app on your Pixel
  2. Select in the settings Timer 3 or 10 seconds
  3. Raise your palm to activate the self-timer. Wait until the square is full, then the timer is activated.

Also handy, this feature works not only with the front camera but also with the rear camera.
