Most children of primary school age have a mild corona infection, but a small group does have serious complaints. Last week, the Health Council already recommended that children with serious health problems be offered a vaccination. According to the council, a corona vaccination should now also be possible for all healthy children. ‘Ultimately, the ratio between health gains and possible side effects is sufficiently favorable for the individual child,’ they write in the advice.

The vaccine could prevent a serious course of corona infection and the rare but serious inflammatory reaction MIS-C. According to the Health Council, it also reduces the indirect impact of the coronavirus on children, for example because they cannot go to school or the sports club.
