In the heat of the Italian summer night, with a drink in hand, some mistakes are sometimes made.

Holly (36), married, mother of Nova (6) and Naomi (2):

“Last year my husband Jeroen and I went on holiday to Italy with our best friends Pauline and Felix and their children. We rented an apartment with a garden and private pool and stayed for two weeks. We do that often, we have already been together in France and Greece. Even now it was very nice again with barbecues every evening and sitting outside until late at night, drinking chianti and prosecco.

Another twist

On one of the last evenings Jeroen left early for our apartment. When not much later Pauline also went to her bed, Felix and I sat by the pool with a bottle of limoncello. It was still about 25 degrees. Our conversation about the children and the view suddenly took a different turn when Felix told me how beautiful he had always found me and that he was crazy about me. I was shocked, because I had no idea of ​​his feelings, which I did not answer at all.

But somehow I also felt flattered, so I let myself be carried away by his words and the drink. When he started kissing and caressing me, I couldn’t stop him. He pulled up my skirt and dove down underjust a hundred meters away from our sleeping partners.

After about ten minutes I sobered up. I pushed Felix off me and told us to stop this. We weren’t allowed to risk our marriages.

Guilt

The next morning I pretended that nothing had happened. Fortunately, Felix didn’t intend to cause any trouble either and behaved just as normal. We never talked about it again. This year we all want to go away again. Yet I still have a great sense of guilt and fear that that Italian night will ever come true.”
