‘He is always busy on the weekends’

Handy, such a partner who can fix everything in the house. But when he is doing odd jobs outside the home in all his spare time, Renske can cut it down a notch.

Renske (43): “Basically, I am very lucky with my handy man. We have an old house and in recent years Jens has restored and renovated it himself. Beautiful, but we now have some overdue maintenance. Three tiles have been loose on our bathroom floor for months and the bath is leaking, the garden fence is in urgent need of replacement and we would also like a luxurious lounge corner, so that we can sit out of the wind.

Job skills

I’ve been hearing for at least a year that Jens is going to pick up these projects quickly. Only, I have to take that ‘fast’ broadly. His DIY skills have also been noticed by our sons’ football club. The club has been around for almost a hundred years and it showed. Everything looked dilapidated and, according to Jens, was crying out for ‘a lick of paint’.

Last year he gathered a team of fathers and since then they have been busy fixing things up on weekends and evenings. That works fine, but I think it could be a bit less. They come up with a new job every time so that I can whistle for my so wanted lounge corner for the time being. I always say: with a little adjustment, Jens can appear in two TV shows: both in Help my husband is a handyman! as in Help, my husband has a hobby! he wouldn’t be out of place.”
