Bug in Google Maps crashes Android Auto
Suffering from Android Auto crash? This could possibly be the result of a bug found in Google Maps. Several users report the problem, which has now also been raised with Google.

Several in-car Android Auto users have reported problems using the service. Due to a bug in Google Maps, the navigation interface of Google Maps on Android Auto would restart every five to ten minutes. In the meantime, the service can be used, but it is of course far from useful. When crashing, no further message is shown, so it seems difficult to determine the cause. Not every user seems to be affected by the problem; but still several users report to the help forum of Android Auto, from Google itself.
The problems seem to occur over Android Auto Wireless (wireless) as well as wired. A solution has not yet been found. Factory reset has not made any difference so far. Google has been notified of the issue but has not yet responded. A bug fix is likely to be rolled out in the near future for the Google Maps issue in Android Auto.
