The latest Netflix Original hit series is a fact, because Lupine tops the lists with suave, panache and bravado.

Netflix kicks off the year exceptionally well with their latest Original called Lupine. The French-language miniseries revolves around a thief and con artist who acts like the famous gentleman thief Lupine. Here are a few reasons why the series is worth checking out.

Lupine dominates Netflix

The latest Netflix Original called Lupine is currently in first place of Netflix’s top 10. The French-language miniseries revolves around Assane Diop, played by the exceptionally sympathetic Omar Sy (Intouchables). He is a master thief and professional gentleman, like the fictional character Arsène Lupine.

This popular book series about the eponymous character is real and also exists in the miniseries as an inspiration for the main character. It is even a common thread in the police investigation into Assane.

But why is the show so immensely popular? Apart from the smooth Omar Sy (who is just as suave and in control as many James Bond), the story has something for everyone. A major art theft, infiltration, flashbacks to his youth, a ramshackle relationship with his ex-wife, blackmail, intrigue and a pleasant dose of humor.

Think of the show as an upside-down Sherlock Holmes, with the main character technically on the other side of the law. That does not alter the fact that he has the same method; cunning and always one step ahead of the enemy. And speaking of that enemy, even though Assane is a master thief, in Lupine he mainly tries to uncover a gigantic plot.

Finally, the series also looks exceptionally good. The first 5 episodes of Lupine are now on Netflix and all last around 50 minutes. Unfortunately it ends with a cliffhanger, because season 1 consists of 10 episodes. You have to wait a while for the last 5 episodes; a release date has not yet been announced.
