‘He didn’t want an intruder in the house’

It’s something, you have it well organized as a young noble in your own house, suddenly such an late arrival shows up.

Angela (42), mother of Bas (15) and Boaz (2).

“Bas was screaming in front of me when I turned out to be pregnant from a one-night stand and I told him he was having a little brother. HE DID NOT WANT AN INTRUDER IN THE HOUSE. He liked it so much with just the two of us. Anyway, now that Boaz is here they are the best of friends and he is sweeter than sweet.

Nice joe

‘You can sleep in on Sundays, mom,’ he said the other day, ‘then Boaz and I check out chill videos on YouTube together’. Fine, I thought. Super cute, such a long lark with a toddler in his arms. Until I saw what exactly they were looking at. Unfortunately no Miffy. Rather scary horror movies/Fortnite/Mocrorap with lots of English swear words.

I’m having nightmares about it now. Thankfully not Boaz. He thinks ‘joetoes’ are great and, according to Bas, he has no idea what exactly he sees. I just hope that’s really the case.”

Let that be clear

Esther (42), mother of Leonie (17) and Loïs (2).

“Leonie thought it was really great that after so many years of struggling we managed to get pregnant at the last minute. But she did warn, “Just don’t think I’m chasing the stroller down the street.” Otherwise everyone will think I’m a stupid teen mom.’”

Big mouth, small heart

Linda (40), mother of Chimaero (16), Valkyrja (14), Nyachdi (12), Qirinye (11) and Deagão (6 months).

“When I told my four teenage children about a year ago that they were getting a brother or sister, three of them jumped for joy and reacted happily and enthusiastically. Chimaero, the eldest at the time 15, did not.

He looked doubtful and said, “Well, I don’t really think that’s very necessary.” He didn’t attack us, but he made it clear that he didn’t want it. Probably because his sisters and brother happened to be terribly annoying that day. Then you will not be happy with the news that another one will be added.

“Guess who’s running back especially to give the little one an extra punch?”

I mostly laughed at myself. I have known my child for a little longer than today. Guess who, after he has already walked out the door to go to school, rushes back in to give the little one an extra punch?”
