HalfDive VR: the VR helmet project to be used lying down is canceled
Launched in financing Kickstarter in mid-December, the virtual reality headset project HalfDive VR already sounded like a nice joke. The odd-looking VR headset was designed to be used lying down and also had EEG and haptic sensors. An exceptional helmet for exceptional uses, therefore, more oriented “meditation” than “breaking brick records at Beat Saber”.
The mass production of the helmet was to start this month of February before the marketing scheduled for May. The base model was priced at over $700, and a slightly higher-end model (with full support for the horizontal position) topped out at over $1000.
This unusual VR headset will never see the light of day. The startup Diver X behind the project announced a few hours ago the cancellation of the HalfDive VR Kickstarter. The young shoot invoke problems with the supply of components, the absence of cash, and also a poor positioning of the product, which would ultimately not have the capacity to find a place alongside more classic VR headsets.
