Secret Google project directions

Android developer and researcher Kuba Wojciechowski came across the secret project while working with the Fast Pair Bluetooth pairing software interface. Apparently, Google is also developing its own device for this. He mentioned his discovery on Twitter.

More details about the Grogu

According to his data, Grogu, GR10 or groguaudio, is currently under development by the team behind Google Nest. According to Wojciechowski, the device will be available in several colors, including a speaker to emit a sound signal if the device is missing. In that respect, it resembles its competitors AirTag and Tile.

Likely support for Bluetooth LE and UWB

According to the developer, Google’s new gadget could support Bluetooth LE and ultra-wideband (UWB). Ultra-wideband positioning is more accurate than Bluetooth, making it ideal for finding lost items. Google also works with several chipset manufacturers to make it possible for manufacturers of similar gadgets to work smoothly with the FastPair technology.

Still a lot of mystery and uncertainty

Google declined to respond to a request for further information from computer magazine PCMag. Wojciechowski, who has often released reliable information about future Google developments, suspects that the smart tag will be launched at the same time as the next generation of Google Pixels in the fall.

Competitor Apple has caused quite a bit of controversy because of the AirTag stalking scandals. It is not impossible that Google has waited quietly and in the meantime has asked a team of developers to work on a solution to prevent this kind of practice.
