Google surprises with pixel announcement – GIGA Headlines

Google surprised everyone with new information about the next generation of Pixel devices. You can find out what else happened this week in our weekly review, the GIGA Headlines.

Samsung fans are calling for the new Galaxy Note

At the Galaxy Unpacked Event next week, Samsung will probably present a lot: a new Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Z Fold, a new Galaxy Watch, maybe an S21 FE. But definitely not a Galaxy Note!

Of course, this calls for die-hard Samsung fans. The Samsung blog SamMobile has therefore started a petition to reconsider Samsung’s decision to pause the Note series and to present a Galaxy Note 22 instead of a regular Galaxy S22 next year.

Currently, over 34,000 people have found each other who this petition have signed. Will Samsung move to rethink based on these numbers? We suspect: no.

Google introduces Pixel 6

In the past few months we have heard quite a few leaks about the new Google Pixel 6.
That shouldn’t have passed Google by either, which is why you will find all the details about the new device there this week – perhaps to get the last leakers up to date – completely surprising self published Has.

The most important innovation – besides the eye-catching camera bar – is likely to be its own “tensor” chip. So instead of taking a Qualcomm off the peg, you are now taking the Apple route and making your own SoCs.

Who is producing them? Google is silent. It is assumed, however, that it is Samsung as a cooperation partner.

With the new Pixel, Google could try again to enter the smartphone upper class.

We are curious to see how expensive a smartphone with its own chip will be.
So maybe you should start saving now.

Twitch: Subscription prices are falling

And where you can save now: For example with your own Twitch subscriptions. As the gaming streaming service announced, prices in Germany will be reduced with immediate effect. Instead of 4.99 euros per month, you only pay 3.99 euros per channel.

YouTube: Inexpensive premium offer in test phase

“YouTube Premium Lite” is currently being tested in some regions. So if you only have an ad-free YouTube and want to support the makers of the videos, you can do that for 6.99 euros instead of 11.99 euros per month.
However, the functionality of Premium Lite is also less. Video downloads shouldn’t work any more than watching videos in the background. YouTube Music is also not included in this pricing model. But hey, at least the annoying mid-rolls are gone.

It is not yet known when and whether we will get YouTube Premium Lite in Germany.

New M1 Apple Devices: Roadmap Announced

It was already speculated at WWDC that we would get a new MacBook with an improved M1 chip. As we now know, that did not happen.
Now Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has given his contacts the chance to speak again and has handed over the current roadmap.

The overdue MacBook Pros should come in the coming months, a new Mac mini around the turn of the year.
The iMacs that are still sold with Intel chips are to be converted to their own Apple chips by the end of 2022 and, according to the current status, you can also wait for a Mac Pro with an M1 chip until 2022.

Well, good things take time.

Microsoft: Client for Xbox Cloud Gaming in the making?

With “Xbox Cloud Gaming” Microsoft has created an interesting offer for everyone who wants to play but neither has a current console nor an adequate gaming PC.

Now some peripherals could be added: the Xbox Stream Box.

The render images surfaced on the net show a device that looks like a miniature version of the Xbox Series S. What can it do? Connect to a controller and connect to the Xbox Gaming Cloud.

More details about the device are not known, but we suspect that it will be a resounding success, like the Steam Link back then.
