Google releases new Inuit wallpapers for Pixel phones

Google comes with new wallpapers for its Pixel phones. This time we see wallpapers that are supposed to celebrate the ‘Day of the Indigenous Peoples of the World’. For this, the company created three new wallpapers that are all based on Inuit culture.

Google releases new wallpapers for its Pixel phones every month. Last month, for example, Google declared their love for frogs. This month, Google is releasing three new wallpapers, celebrating the World’s Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day when we reflect internationally on the energy, ingenuity and elasticity of all the indigenous peoples of the world. We also consider the fact that everyone on earth should have the same rights, something that unfortunately is not always the case and everywhere.

To reflect on this, Google comes with a number of wallpapers. These are three wallpapers in the category ‘Managed Cultural Moments’ created by artist Gayle Uyagaqi Kabloona. On her website, she describes herself as an Inuit artist who wants to connect within Inuit culture through art and show it to other people. With the new backgrounds, Google focuses specifically on the Inuit, these are a number of indigenous populations from Alaska and Canada, among others.

Wallpapers and availability

The three new wallpapers will be named ‘Helping Hands’, ‘Life and Water’ and ‘Interconnected’. According to the artist, they symbolize, among other things, the reason why indigenous peoples are so strong and the fact that we all have to lend each other a helping hand to, for example, continue traditions.

The wallpapers are now available in the Wallpaper and Style app of the Google Pixel 3 (XL), Pixel 3a, Pixel 4 (XL), Pixel 5, Pixel 6 (Pro) and the Google Pixel 6a.
