Google Pixel 8 Pro seems to be getting interesting new feature

Google’s Pixel 8 Pro can be seen in an online video that has since been removed by YouTube. The phone also seems to be equipped with a fairly unique new feature: a temperature sensor.

Pixel 8 Pro gets a temperature sensor

It is remarkable that a video of the device is already leaking, since the device is not expected until October. Kuba Wojciechowski leaked the video via 91Mobiles. It is therefore logical that Google wanted to take it offline quickly. We see the Pixel 8 Pro on the removed video in full regalia, where one element is particularly striking: we see a temperature sensor.

You can see that temperature sensor on the back of the device, below the flash. We have been able to spot that before, because Pixel 8 Pro renders appeared in March, but then it was not yet seen for what it was. People thought it was just a lidar sensor, which we know from the iPhone. Now it turns out that it is a temperature sensor. You can use it to measure your body temperature by showing it your head. You must take off your glasses and headscarves so that your temples and forehead are fully visible.

Measure temperature

The sensor should not touch your head, but it should be able to see it clearly. There is a large button on the screen that you press to take the measurement and it all takes less than 5 seconds. You can then see your temperature on your phone. That saves you putting a thermometer in all kinds of places, although that will probably remain the most reliable way to measure your temperature.

There is a good chance that this temperature gauge will come on the Pixel 8 Pro, but not on the standard Pixel 8. The renders of that device showed no extra item on the back of the device.

What do you think, this very unique gimmick that we haven’t seen on any other device yet? Does Google do well to come up with something so original, or do you not trust such a temperature measurement completely? Leave it now in the comments.
