Google Pixel 6 August update is late

Google comes with a new update for the Pixel 6 series. The main improvement is a fix for the problem that GPS drops out in some circumstances. That update is already here, in a few weeks it is expected in August.

Update for the Pixel 6

The update is very simple and obviously can’t wait for the bigger August update to come. Google writes on its blog that it is only an update for the Pixel 6 series, so not for other Pixel phones. The update can be recognized by its number:

• Pixel 6: SQ3A.220705.004
• Pixel 6 Pro: SQ3A.220705.004
• Pixel 6a: SD2A.220601.003.B1

It’s been a while since the July update appeared: that was on July 7. It came with some stabilization and performance improvements, plus a patch for some vulnerabilities. It also introduced VoLTE, a communication method that makes it possible to make calls over 4G.

The GPS only fix update is now rolling out. Don’t have it yet? Give it another week before you ring the bell, because that’s about how long it needs to arrive worldwide. After that, there will also be the official August update, which is quite late. Google promises him in the coming weeks, which is probably partly due to the smaller update that is now coming towards Pixel 6 phones. What the August update entails, that is still unknown.

Android 13

Unfortunately, at least it’s not the update everyone was hoping for, as we were actually quietly hoping that the stable version of Android 13 would arrive this month. Especially given the beta program that was very early this year and the fact that there were only two developer previews before the beta started. Now that stable version of Android 13 is expected to arrive in September, right before the Pixel 7 comes out.
