Google Photos users can get a trial version of Google One in the future

The latest version of Google Photos contains code to indicate that Google plans to offer users a trial version of Google One.

This was revealed by the 9to5Google portal after decompiling the latest version of the application. This code also provides an insight into how the new feature can work if Google decides to officially launch it. However, this does not mean that it will really happen.

Trial version available for up to several years

By upgrading to Google One plan, you agree to the Google One Terms of Service and the trial Terms and Conditions. Note: The Google Privacy Policy describes how data is handled for this service.

It can be deduced from the code that this trial version does not have to be only for a 120 GB plan. Also, for some users, the trial period may be shorter or longer – ranging from a few days to several years.

It is also questionable whether this trial version would include other benefits that Google One offers, such as Android VPN or cashback for purchases in the official Google store.

There are other ways to get a free trial of Google One

There are currently several ways to get a free trial of Google One. Buying some Chromebooks or Pixel smartphones is one of them. Some local Google Maps guides also had the option to apply for a trial. However, Google does not like to give away access to free subscription services, and cases where this has been isolated have been isolated.

Such a decision by Google may be related to a change awaiting Google Photos users. The service will end free unlimited high-quality photo backups in June, and many users are unlikely to have enough 15GB of free storage. This is a huge opportunity for Google to get more paying users, and offering them a free trial is a great way to show them what they can get for just a few euros a month.
