Google Photos rolls out improved Memories and collage editor

Google Photos is currently rolling out improvements to its Memories feature, which will now include more moving images and videos. In addition, the app has also received a new collage editor that allows you to better personalize collages.

That’s why it’s nice that in Memories, at the top of the Google Photos app, you can also see a smaller selection of your photos. In a blog post, Google says Memories will look better now.

First of all, we can expect that the slideshow of photos will look a lot smoother and more cinematic. The app will make photos move and will also zoom in on faces. What you will notice is that Google plays with a depth effect in its slideshow, as you can see in the video below.

Music and drawings

In the video you can also hear instrumental music in the background, which is also new. Google also wants to show video fragments. The Photos app then tries to recognize the funniest part of a video thanks to its machine learning algorithms, and it will be added to your Memories.

Google also comes with drawings that can see around your photos. They are sometimes added to make your Memories more varied. Finally, there will also be the option to share Memories you find interesting with friends and family.

Improved collages

Google Photos has had a collage maker for a while, but compared to some third-party apps, Google’s collages were pretty basic, not to say “boring”. Photos now gets a little more creative with its collage editor. You can choose from the 30 new styles for your photo collages, and it is also handy that you can now quickly edit individual photos, directly from the collage menu.
