“Sales of the Galaxy S21 series is very disappointing”

Samsung releases a new Galaxy S series every year. At the beginning of this year, there was the Galaxy S21 series. However, sales seem to be far behind compared to the previously released S-series models.

Galaxy S21 sales are disappointing

The Business Post has released a report on the sales of the Galaxy S21 series devices. According to this report, the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy S21 Ultra are not as popular as hoped by Samsung. In the first six months of this year, the series would have sold less than was the case with the Galaxy S20 series, in the first half of last year. According to the same source, sales are also behind the 2019 Galaxy S10 series.

In the first six months of availability, 13.5 million units of the Galaxy S21 are said to have been sold. That number is 20 percent lower than the S20 series, and a whopping 47 percent lower than the S10 series, according to a report. The chart below from Counterpoint Research shows sales since the Galaxy S5 series.

There is also success, especially in our own country. In the first month of sales, Samsung sold 590,000 S21 series devices in its home country of South Korea. This is the highest number since the Galaxy S8, when 620,000 of the S8 series were sold in its first month, while only two models appeared in the S8 series, instead of three. In Q2 of this year, Samsung reportedly sold 58 million smartphones in total, compared to 54 million in the same quarter last year. The sale of cheaper devices seems to have increased considerably.
