Google Photos Memories widget is getting closer, new screenshots

We first saw the new widget in Google Photos with memories from a year ago in July. It seems that the rollout for everyone is imminent as more and more Google Photos users can now take advantage of it.

Google launched in 2019 Google presented the Memories in his Photos app. Google then looks at the photos you took on the same day the year before or a few years ago. You will then be presented with it at the top of the app as a gallery similar to Instagram’s Stories function. Last year Google introduced a live wallpaper based on these memories and now the search giant is working on a widget.

A number of Photos users in a Telegram group have installed version 5.52.0.0387241369 of the app and are now seeing this widget in the widget selector. The new widget includes a series of auto-generated photo albums that also appear at the top of the Photos tab in the Google Photos app. This way you can also view these albums on your home screen. On the editorial board, it is only Sebastien who has the widget.

As shown in the screenshots below, you can use the widget Your memories from the widget selector to the home screen. The widget has a standard 2×2 view which is quite narrow, but you can resize and move the widget as well.

Currently, the widget only shows “This week” and “1 year ago” reminders. Hopefully this will change soon so that we can also view other types of memories, such as Spotlight, Trip Highlights, Cookery, and so on.

availabilty

It is unknown when the new “Your Memories” widget in Google Photos will be available to everyone on the home screen. Google is now working on it and may also decide not to release the widget at all, but we hope so. What do you think? Would you put the widget on your home screen?
