Google Photos and Google Home are coming to smartwatches with Wear OS
Smartwatches equipped with Google’s Wear OS will soon be expanded with a few handy improvements. It’s about the capabilities of Google Photos and Google Home. Setting your own watch face also becomes child’s play.
Google Photos and Home to Wear OS
Google plans to release two of its applications for Wear OS. Specifically, it concerns Google Photos and Google Home. First of all, Google Photos. It will be possible to customize the watch face of your smartwatch with a photo of your choice. You can choose different clock styles over this. As it looks now, it will not be possible to use the app itself on your smartwatch. Browsing your photo gallery on your smartwatch won’t be possible, it seems.
Google Home
Google Home will also come to the smartwatch. A handy addition, because from that moment on you can control things like your lighting or other smart devices from your smartwatch. As mentioned, this works for your lighting, where you can also dim the brightness. Another option you have is to change the temperature of the thermostat.
Personal safety
A third application that Google will announce for Wear OS is ‘Personal Security’. It is an option that we know from the Pixel devices. In this way you can share health data with care providers and others can also be warned quickly. The functionality will therefore also come to Wear OS, as is clear from the screenshots.
Google is expected to announce the new features today. There seems to be a chance that the app from Google Photos and Google Home will also come to the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4.
