Google Nest Hub now shows air quality: this is how it works

Google has added a new feature to the smart screen, the Google Nest Hub. From now on you can see the air quality in your current environment directly on the screen.

The Google Nest Hub is like a kind of Google Home Mini, the smart assistant, but with a screen. You can use the service for a wide variety of things, and now the number of options has been expanded further. Google’s smart screen can now show air quality. It is not about indoor air quality, but outdoors. Ideal if you want to know this if you still want to go around the block, or, for example, quickly suffer from your health with poor air quality.

Air quality is being made available on the Nest Hub for more and more users. This is happening in phases, so it may take a while until everyone finds the new function on the screen. Google is collaborating with PurpleAir, a company that collects data on air pollution, pollen and other issues that affect air quality. The degree of air pollution is made clear by means of colours. Green is good, purple is worst. In between are the colors yellow, orange and red.

You can switch on the air quality via the Google Home app on your smartphone. Then choose the Nest Hub, and go to Photo frame > Edit photo frame and choose Show air quality. Incidentally, it may be that the layer is not immediately visible on your screen. That will happen in the near future. For some users, signing up to the Preview program helps. While you get new features with this, it may not be bug-free yet. You can sign up for this via Nest Hub > Settings > Device Information > Preview Program.
