Google Maps will bring this news before Christmas

Google Maps is one of the most downloaded apps on Android, thanks in part to the fact that Google takes good care of it and is constantly improving. He has to do so, otherwise strong competition would bypass him very quickly. The news is provided by Google Blog.

Google Maps will receive several improvements, these two will come to us as well

Google has announced that Directory features and area congestion will come to us as well. Let’s first introduce the Directory tab. We don’t know yet what this feature will be called, so let’s call it Directory. It could be freely translated as a folder or a list, and that will be the task of this card.

Imagine a shopping center – e.g. Aupark. Let’s say you’ve never been to it and want to see what dining options it offers. At the moment, you would have to go to the mall page and click there to do so. With the Directory tab you will have all the information at hand. You go to the card and check the Restaurants and voilas item, you have it all in the palm of your hand. Information on opening hours, price categories and the like is a matter of course.

The second of the mentioned functions will show the disturbance of individual areas. Let’s say you’re planning a trip to the Old Town in Bratislava. If you decide to go when the streets are busy, Google Maps will show you an orange message (see GIF below). After clicking, you can then see the traffic of the place during each hour. The above-mentioned Directory tab will also be available here, which will quickly show you places in the vicinity.

Other news that won’t reach us

Well, we found them interesting to mention. The first is quite revolutionary – delivery of the purchase to the car.

Take a situation where you go home from work and would like to make a small purchase. You create an order via the Internet while you are still at work, which is then processed by the store staff. In the meantime, you get in the car, share your location with them in real time (Google promises not to save), and set out for the store. When you come to the store, you enter the number of your parking space into Google Maps and the store employee will bring the order to your car. This feature is only available in the US.

Another novelty that will not come to us yet is more detailed information and restaurant reviews. The new Google Maps will allow you to enter and view information about specific restaurant price categories. You will see if most meals are under € 10, under € 20 or up to € 30. So far, you can only see it in the form of one, two or three euro symbols (€, €€, €€€).

Shortened review options will also be a novelty. Google Maps asks you things like, “Does the restaurant offer outdoor seating?” Alternatively, the questions may relate to the possibility of picking up or delivering meals.
