Exploring multiple locations at once, planning trips, or comparing businesses and restaurants can sometimes be tedious on Google Maps. You have to open more than one card to finally look at the same part of the map anyway. A new feature has now been added to the web version of the service for testers, which allows you to temporarily dock search locations to the bottom panel.

A blue pill button appears next to the name of the place in the Google Maps sidebar, saying “Dock Down.” After clicking on the place you have chosen, the bottom panel will move upwards. You can expand this panel with a number of additional locations, and you can switch between results as easily as between browser tabs.

At this time, the feature is only available to testers on the trial web version of Google Maps. However, Google is likely to release it to other users soon, region by region. It is also not yet certain whether the feature will also appear in the mobile version of Google Maps.
