Google launches larger beta of Android games for Windows PCs
Google has greatly expanded its beta of Play Games for Windows. In the United States, Windows 11 users can now play Android games. The launch for the feature is getting closer.
Play Games for Windows 11
Google announced at the end of 2021 that it is working on an app that will allow you to play Android games on Windows 11 PCs. That works through a modified version of Google Play Games for Windows 11, and in January Google announced a beta version of the app in select markets.
Google has now announced that the beta will now be extended to the United States. Furthermore, the beta already works in Australia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. With Play Games, Google ensures that the graphics of Android games are optimized for larger monitors and for mouse and keyboard. You can also sync your game progress between your PC and Android phone.
At the moment the beta is not yet available in the Netherlands and Belgium, but Google may pass the beta with us and we will get the stable version of Play Games for Windows 11 in one fell swoop. Now the beta is available to a much larger group of American users becomes even better at resolving software errors. It is unknown when the stable version will be available. Apart from Google’s efforts, Microsoft is also working on support for Android apps and games in Windows 11.
Lower system requirements
Google has also been lowering system requirements for those who want to play Android games on PC since August. Previously, 8 GB of RAM, 20 GB of free SSD storage, an octa-core porcessor and a GPU for gaming were required. Android games have since also worked for users who have a PC with at least 10 GB of free SSD storage and a quad-core chipset with integrated graphics.
