These two phones will get it first

Android 13 has been available since August, and Sony is now also reporting the first update successes. Initially, however, only two of the manufacturer’s smartphones will be equipped with the new software. Sony is still holding back on the first announcement with many important details.

Sony announces update to Android 13

Like other manufacturers, Sony is busy updating to Android 13. The group has now explained that the introduction should begin (source: Sony on Twitter). According to Sony, initially only two smartphones will be supplied with the new Android version: the Sony Xperia 1 IV and the Xperia 5 IV.

So far, the announcement has stuck, so users haven’t received a notification on their phones yet that an update is ready for them. That could change in the next few days – although Sony hasn’t explained which regions will be the first to enjoy Android 13.

It also remains unclear when Update for more Sony phones is provided. Sony explained to us that the Xperia 1 III will definitely be supplied with the new Android software. When that will be the case remains uncertain. Sony had also initially supplied two flagships with Android 12, the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III received the update in January 2022.

Android 13 continues to build on the design language Material You and offers customization of themes, colors, and icons. Improved permissions and the ability to set different languages ​​for apps are also part of Android 13.

Sony Xperia 1 IV barely dropped in price

Although the Sony Xperia 1 IV was launched in June 2022, the price has hardly changed so far – at least in the official Sony shop, where the cell phone continue to be offered for 1,399 euros becomes. Elsewhere, the cell phone now costs significantly less (see Amazon).
