Google is working on a new shopping list in Chrome
Google is currently working on a new shopping list that you can consult directly in your Chrome browser. The feature is currently in development, but references to the list have already been discovered on Google’s development website. We explain how it will probably work.
Google’s shopping list
Google is working on a new way for its services to help you shop. In Chrome there will be a shopping list that you can view directly from the browser. At this point, nothing is known about how this upcoming feature will work, because so far it’s only been talked about by Chrome developers. We read references to the feature on this and this page of the Chrome developer site.
Google codenamed the project “Wall-E,” in reference to the well-known Disney movie featuring the robot. The animated film Wall-E is set in the future, a time when mega corporations are in control and people live in an absurd consumer society. So it’s somewhat ironic that Google is naming its new shopping tool for Chrome after this movie.
That is how it works
We expect that Google will eventually work the shopping list as the Reading List in Chrome. It shows an overview of web pages that you can easily find to read at a later time. Only in this case you will be able to add and view store products in Chrome. The function will soon work as a so-called Chrome flag, which is a feature that every user can test before it is really launched in the browser.
At the moment, Google already has a shopping list that is managed by the Google Assistant. By means of voice commands you can add or cross off new products. In the United States it is possible to make this list work in the note-taking app Keep, but you still cannot get that functionality to work in Dutch. Are you happy that Google is once again paying attention to its shopping list? How do you think it should work? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
