Google is becoming a real threat to Samsung with this new smartphone

Samsung is currently still the leader in the folding cell phone market. But that is likely to change in 2023. Many smartphone manufacturers will challenge Samsung for the throne. Including Google with the Pixel Fold. The first render images show that Google has taken the right path.

Google Pixel Fold will not be a Samsung copy

Even if Samsung currently sells the most folding cell phones, that does not mean that the smartphones are perfect. The Galaxy Z Fold series in particular has always had major weaknesses that Samsung has not eliminated to this day. For example, there is the still much too long display on the outside, the housing that cannot be folded up completely and the fold in the display, which becomes more and more visible over time. Google wants to do everything better with the Pixel Fold and could really do it if it’s after these design leaks goes:

With the Pixel Fold, Google is more oriented towards the Oppo Find N, which is also a bit wider, thinner and smaller. The external display, which is used very often in normal use, should be so much easier to use.

Indoors, Google isn’t experimenting with an under-display camera either, but wants to improve the user experience with a larger screen. It looks more like a small tablet. Overall, the Pixel Fold isn’t as clumsy and bulky as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is. When unfolded, it is also only 5.7 mm thin. The outer display measures 5.79 inches diagonally, while the inner display is 7.69 inches.

The Google Pixel Fold is said to have the hardware of the Pixel 7 Pro:

Google Pixel Fold with pen support?

According to the source, there is at least a chance that the Pixel Fold can also be operated with a stylus. However, one does not seem to be quite sure. The presentation is expected in May 2023 with the hardware from the Pixel 7 Pro (test). Android 13 should then also be adapted and optimally designed for folding cell phones.
