Google has hidden a World Cup minigame in its search engine
Google lets you score goals with your favorite team at the World Cup. There is a mini game hidden in the search engine and you can kick penalties with the Dutch national team. The team with the most goals wins at the end of the World Cup.
World Cup football minigame in Google
During important holidays and events you can always expect a fun game or a reference in your Google search engine. This time it is again the case for the football World Cup, as countries compete against each other on their browsers to score the most goals by the end of the World Cup. Google announces that on Twitter.
To be able to play the minigame, you only have to enter a match of your choice as a search term on your phone, for example: “Senegal Netherlands”. It is important to use the correct order of the match. You will see a blue button with a football appear at the bottom and if you tap it, you will enter the game.

That’s how the game works
You can then choose one of the two teams – the Netherlands of course – and then you have to swipe the screen towards the goal to score. You will notice that the tempo increases considerably after a while. The game ends when you kick wide of the goal. The country that has scored the most goals in Google at the end of the World Cup wins the game.
You can always view the standings if you search for a match that has already been played: for example “Qatar Ecuador”. Then press the ‘Stand’ tab. At the time of writing, Saudi Arabia is leading the game, followed by Ecuador and Argentina. The Netherlands is now only in 18th place, but you can change that.
