Google Gboard gets updated toolbar

Gboard – one of the most widely used virtual keyboards – is getting a new update. This ensures, among other things, that the toolbar is refreshed. This should make the toolbar work easier and even faster.

Toolbar in Gboard

Gboard is Google’s virtual keyboard, the default keyboard app on almost all Android smartphones. You can customize the keyboard in many ways. Many of these adjustments can be found in the toolbar, or toolbar. This is the bar you’ll find above the keys. The toolbar provides quick access to things like GIFs, stickers, the clipboard, themes, text editing, translation, and settings.

Toolbar update

According to AndroidPolice, Google has been working hard to customize this toolbar and make it even more accessible. Google is bringing these improvements in an update that is currently only available to people who are enrolled in Gboard’s beta program. It was previously known that Gboard will get an updated Material You design. You can read more about this in this article.

The changes

What exactly are the changes? First of all, the quick settings will soon be found elsewhere. The quick settings can be found under the quick access button, the three dots at the top right of the keyboard. After the update you will find the quick settings at the top left under a square icon. Here you will now see the same options with an addition of emojis. You can adjust and rearrange all options that you can find under the various icons.

You can also move them to the toolbar. This was already possible, but there was a maximum of four. This maximum number is now gone and this means that you can place as many icons in your toolbar as you want. So you get the option to add multiple shortcuts to your toolbar. Finally, there will also be a new privacy menu. However, there will be no new privacy settings. They will only be transferred from the ‘Advanced’ menu to ‘Privacy Settings’.
