Google Drive will soon look different on tablets

Google Drive gets a new design on tablets and there is also a handy navigation rail. Google Drive is getting some kind of upgrade that makes it much more suitable for larger screens.

Drive is an app for smartphones, but also for tablets, which can benefit from a different set-up thanks to their larger screen. Google sees that too, which is why it has decided to visually polish Google Drive on tablets.

Google writes: “We are optimizing the Google Drive app for tablet screens through several modernizations, including moving the navigation bar to the side, optimizing visuals to take advantage of the larger screen, and making it easier to view file details for a selected file. to look at.” Google has created an image where you can clearly see the difference between old and new.

Navigation bar

Indeed, the navigation bar you are used to seeing at the bottom of the screen, which moves to a navigation rail on the side. In addition, the standard tabs such as ‘My Drive’, ‘Shared with me’, ‘Recent’ and ‘Starred’ are now provided with a plus to immediately create new files or folders. You can also make the drawer with options larger and smaller. The tabs for the ‘file suggestions’ and the notifications now take up less space. That space that is left is used to display even more files and folders for a better overview.

Drive isn’t the only app getting a major overhaul from Google. Recently, Documents, Spreadsheets and Presentations have also been visually adjusted somewhat thanks to the new Material You design with its round corners and different color schemes.
