Unlock fishing (Genshin Impact 2.1)
In order for you to be able to fish in Genshin Impact, you must first the following requirements be fulfilled:
- You have at least Adventure Rank 30 achieved. This is also a requirement in order to to come to Inazuma.
- You have that Order “At home in the jug I” completed and the Unlocked Pot of Evanescence.
If these conditions are met, the World mission “Outnumbered fish” appear in your quest log. Then go to the Adventure Guild in Moon City and talk to Katheryne there.
Katheryne will then send you to the Angler Nantuck at the Mostsee in front of Mondstadtwho explains the fishing mechanics to you and hands over your first fishing rod with the “wilderness fishing rod”. He also gives you some types of bait and the recipe for the fruit paste bait with you on the way.
Fishing itself is a simple mini-game that you can play with just one button. Cast your line and hit the fishing button when a fish bites. By holding down and releasing the button, you have to keep the tension at the appropriate point on the fishing bar at the top of the screen until the fish’s stamina is exhausted and you pull the fish ashore.
In the introduction to fishing, you will also be introduced to ornamental fish as special specimens. You can not only fish these, but also breed them in the spirit cloud pool of the jug of transience.

You can always fish where you can see small waves in the water. You should mark discovered fishing spots with a fish hook symbol on the map so that you can find them more quickly later. Always make sure to approach a fishing spot with caution. Because if we run or even fight nearby, fish can be scared away.

Genshin Impact has the right bait for every type of fish, with which you can catch certain specimens more easily. For example, the red paste bait is best for all types of sticklebacks, while false fly baits are better suited for koi and puffer fish. Always check the descriptions of the various baits for this information.

In version 2.1 there are currently 20 different types of fish that you can find and catch. On the following pages of this guide we will show you the locations of all fish. Alternatively, use the list of links at the top of the table of contents to quickly jump to specific fish species you are looking for.
Important NOTE: The locations described in this guide are not guaranteed, as only a certain number of fish can spawn at each fishing spot. If the specimen you are looking for is not there, first fish the other fish there or try alternative locations.
