The Garmin Fenix 7 series consists of three models
More news about the Garmin Fenix 7 will be known to more fans of the brand. We will still see three sizes: 42mm Fenix 7S, 47mm Fenix 7 and very large, 51mm Fenix 7X. Fenix 7S and 7 come in classic designs, made of fiber-reinforced polymer. The large Fenix 7X will only be available in Solar Edition and Sapphire Solar Edition. These versions with solar charging are available for all three presented variants.
Improved location system, solar charging and overall battery life
Sapphire Solar Edition uses titanium as the material and the display is protected by a sapphire crystal for increased scratch resistance. As their name suggests, the watch also supports solar charging. The manufacturer claims that compared to the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro, the new products have up to 54 percent more area for solar charging, which will definitely please. This means better battery life.
With GPS location enabled, the Fenix 7S should last 90 hours on a single charge. When you use solar charging, this endurance stretches for a nice 162 hours. The Fenix 7 then lasts 136 and 289 hours, respectively, and the Fenix 7X lasts an amazing 213 hours and 578 hours with solar charging. Please note that these are only estimates and your practice may differ slightly from this.
The Fenix 7 series supports most important satellite systems. It also adds an L5 frequency for better localization in locations where GPS localization is more difficult. The news also has touch screens, but don’t worry, the good old button controls are still available. We believe that many people praise this navigation system in the Garmin watch system. The idea lies in the possibility of several control methods for navigating in the menu, during scrolling in the settings or, for example, for zooming in on the maps.
Garmin Fenix 7 have an LED light as a nice safety feature
The Fenix 7X model also brings a handy LED flashlight to illuminate. There are red and strong white LEDs. It is activated by double pressing and is suitable for both right-handers and left-handers. There is a mode that turns the light color red when your hand is facing down and the white LED is activated when you point your hand forward.
This is a great human identification for car drivers, for example, during your run in the evening, at night or in the early morning. The new functionality in the maps called “Up Ahead” is to tell the user the location of the elevations, water and other points of interest in the area. Real-Time Stamina then intelligently determines your remaining stamina based on the intensity of your activity.
Garmin is finally renewing its Epix series. The first model in this series was introduced in 2015. This novelty is something similar to the Fenix 7, but with a 1.3-inch OLED screen with always-on function. It comes in a 47mm version and includes many features similar to those in the Fenix 7. This is about buttons, a touch screen or the Real-Time Stamina function.
The main difference compared to the Fenix series is the absence of an LED lamp and support for solar charging. The Garmin Epix reportedly lasts up to 16 days on a single charge and an excellent six days with always-on display functionality turned on. All featured innovations support push notifications, Garmin Pay, music storage and security features. Of course, there must also be health gadgets, such as monitoring of heart rate, respiration, stress, “body battery”, fitness age and sleep.

Competition for Garmin Fenix 7 and Garmin Epix
The previous Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar model also competes with the new products. These are watches that have less efficient solar charging and do not have a touch screen, but this may not necessarily be a disadvantage for many. Garmin is engaged in the production of premium watches for outdoor activities, so we will also mention the Garmin Tactix Delta Pro. These are also a great option for shopping.
