Garmin announces Fenix ​​7 Pro series, new solar powered smartwatches

Garmin just officially announced the Fenix ​​7 Pro series. The smartwatch – which is available in three sizes – can be charged with solar energy and will therefore last for weeks, according to Garmin. What else does the smart watch have to offer?

For the connoisseurs, the Garmin Fenix ​​7 series existed before, but the brand is now adding a Pro version. The Pro version includes a built-in LED flashlight with variable intensity and strobe. In addition, the Pro version has a GEN 5 heart rate sensor with improved sensors that allow you to gain even better insight into how your body and heart are responding or have responded to certain activities and/or training.

The watch is also getting new modes such as ‘Endurance score’ and ‘Hill score’. With the former you can see how your performance develops during long-term efforts, with the latter you can measure how well your performance is when running uphill. For this, the watch measures your endurance and running power on long and steep climbs.

Continue on solar energy for a long time

According to Garmin, the watch can also last up to 37 days on a single battery charge. In addition, the watch can be charged by means of solar energy, which could give it an extra ‘battery boost’. You can use the watch for up to 37 days when used in smartwatch mode with three hours of solar charging in direct sunlight. With GPS on up to 122 hours. The smaller 47mm variant can last up to 22 days, and up to 73 hours in GPS mode. The smallest 41mm can last up to 14 days, with GPS on up to 46 hours.

Multiple sports apps and other features

Several sports apps are available for the Fenix ​​7 Pro. According to Garmin, the training tools have been improved. You can also receive a so-called ‘Training Readiness score’ every morning. This tells you whether it is a good day to be active, or whether you should take it easy. You can also receive various reports that tell you more about your sleep, stress level, heart rate, recovery and overall health.

The watch also has a GPS heart rate and Pulse OX sensor that can measure the oxygen saturation in your blood. A barometer, altimeter and 3-axis electronic compass can also be found on the watch. In addition to all these sports and health functions, you can also listen to music via Spotify or Deezer on the watch, as well as receive notifications and make contactless payments via Garmin Pay. There will be three different models of the Garmin Fenix ​​7 Pro on the market. Namely a 42, 47 and 51 mm variant. Each variant will have an option for standard or sapphire glass. If you choose sapphire glass, there will always be 100 to 200 above the price of the standard glass model. The suggested retail price starts at 849.99 euros, the price can go up to 1049.99 euros.
