Gamescom 2021 continues, but then again not
One of the biggest game events, Gamescom 2021, will continue! However, do not already check hotels in Cologne, because the event will not take place that way.
If you want to know what kind of games might soon brighten up your Xbox or PlayStation, you have a few options. E3 is one of them, Gamescom is the other. We’ve already finished E3 and Gamescom 2021 is coming up.
Not normal
Unfortunately, of course, we still suffer from the corona virus and that also had E3 in its grip. The show went on as usual for the home crowd, but there was no show floor as usual. That makes a convention like E3 or Gamescom fun. In terms of revelations, there was not that much different, but in terms of the trade fair element it was.
Not entirely surprising, therefore, that Gamescom will apply the same recipe in 2021. The show that is normally presented from Cologne is the home base for new game reveals, but not for an exhibition floor. Instead, it will be an online event.
stay at home
Here too, this means that those who stay at home will not notice any difference. Big names will still be in attendance. That means a big Microsoft event at Gamescom 2021 will also take place again for the Xbox-related reveals. Ubisoft, Activision, Bethesda, EA, Activision and many others will also have extended events. You will be able to follow them all via a live stream.
Exhibitions still relevant?
Of course, it immediately raises the question whether this is not simply the new reality and that COVID is not the cause, but the drop. Before reveals spreading nice and fast, those live streams were already the most important parts of Gamescom. That’s a discussion for another time. Gamescom 2021 will take place from August 23 to 27 in total, with the first days of which will consist of Devcom: specifically aimed at developers.
