Free VPN service Pixel 7 (Pro) available at the end of this year

The Google Pixel 7 devices will get access to a free VPN from Google One this December. For this, Google bundles a free VPN service with the Google One subscription. What exactly will this look like and what is a VPN?

What is a VPN?

Last year we already wrote that the VPN service from Google had come to the Netherlands and Belgium. This VPN service is part of the Google One cloud service. This service is the paid subscription of Google Drive that gives you more storage space for Google Photos and Google Drive, among other things. You can read more about this here. There are several subscriptions, each with their own price and features. With the 2 TB premium subscription you get access to the VPN service from Google.

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network, a VPN ensures that you can browse without using your own IP address. An IP address is your own unique address on the internet. A VPN connection is therefore a secure private connection. If you use a VPN service, you have less chance of being tracked online and it becomes more difficult for malicious parties to find out your personal information.

Free VPN for Pixel 7 and 7 Pro users

Normally you must have the premium subscription of Google One for the VPN service from Google. This subscription costs 9.99 euros per month. However, owners of a Google Pixel 7 or Google Pixel 7 Pro can use the VPN service for free. This applies for a period of five years. And besides the fact that a VPN makes your internet traffic a lot safer, you can also watch series from abroad. This simply by setting the VPN to, for example, America.

According to 9to5Google, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will receive an update in December that will allow users of these smartphones to start using the free VPN service.
