France comes with rain radar for energy forecast: this is how it works

France has launched an energy card that allows French people to reduce their energy bills. It can be seen as a modern version of the weather forecast, where you can see exactly when it is best to use electricity.

Energy map in France

France is fully committed to the energy map, NOS writes. This allows the French to see when it is best to switch on the washing machine or connect the electric car to the mains.

It can be seen as a kind of weather forecast, but for electricity consumption. The map shows green, orange and red zones; showing how much electricity is consumed in a region. In the forecast you can see what the expected energy consumption will be for the coming days. The French can also set up an SMS alert if there is a risk of power network failure in the region.

As mentioned, the French are fully committed to this energy map. The status can be viewed on the Mon Écowatt website, with an app coming soon and even getting a spot in the French news on television.

According to sources, a comparable service is not yet needed in the Netherlands. This is because no shortages are expected for the Netherlands in the winter, grid operator Tennet told NOS.
