Forgot security question – what to do?

To protect your account, you can create two different security questions with PayPal. With the right answers you can, for example, reset your password. If you forgot the answer to your PayPal security question, you can easily change the question in your PayPal account. But what can you do if you have also forgotten the password and no longer know the answers?

The PayPal Security Question is an authentication method used as an extra backup and to recover forgotten PayPal login details. You can create the questions and answers in your account in the “Security” section. For example, a typical security question would be: “What is your mother’s maiden name?”. You can select predefined questions from a list and enter the answers freely. If you then forget the password for your PayPal account, you can use the security question to request a new password. But what can you do if you have forgotten the answer to the security question or even the password and the security question?

PayPal: Change security question answers

Even if you can log in, the previous answers to the security questions cannot be changed. In that case, you didn’t lock yourself out, because you just enter a new answer can. However, you will need your PayPal access data, i.e. your user name and password. If you can log in, you change the security questions like this:

1. First log in to PayPal with your username and password.
2. Press on the top right gear icon.
