Motorola has announced a new smartphone in the last month of the year. It’s the Motorola Edge X30 and it’s a first; it is the first smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

In China, Motorola has presented its latest showpiece, a smartphone with high-end specifications and a super-fast processor. The Motorola Edge X30 is the first phone in the world with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which is the successor of the Snapdragon 888. According to the manufacturer, this chipset manages to achieve a performance that is 20 percent faster than the previous model. Furthermore, Qualcomm promises that it is more energy efficient than before.

The Motorola Edge X30 has an OLED screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz and a size of 6.7 inches. The phone will have a 60-megapixel front camera for razor-sharp selfies. What is striking about this lens is that it is placed under the screen panel, so that it cannot be seen. On the back, the phone has a 50 megapixel main camera, a 50 megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. The camera can be filmed in 8K.

The Motorola smartphone also gets a 5000 mAh battery with 68W fast charging. The Motorola Edge X30 runs directly on Android 12 out of the box. The prices start at around 450 euros converted. Nothing is known yet about an arrival to the Netherlands and Belgium.
