First impression Call of Duty: Vanguard disappoints
We’ll get straight to the point. The first impression of Call of Duty: Vanguard is not very positive.
Last weekend saw the first playable beta of Call of Duty: Vanguard. Requirements, you had to have a PlayStation and have a pre-order for the game open. This weekend Xbox gamers and PC gamers can also get started with the game. I’ve been working on Vanguard this past weekend. And despite the fact that it’s an alpha, I’m not very happy with it.
A Call of Duty every year
Every year there are those fixed points in life. For example, there will be a new iPhone and there will also be a new Call of Duty. The franchise has been in a bit of a slump in recent years. That turned 180 degrees with the arrival of Modern Warfare in 2019. Truly a top game. Later came the free-to-play Warzone, which turned out to be a hit as well. Black Ops: Cold War was an entertaining game, but especially the single player and the zombie part. The Multiplayer didn’t catch me. Vanguard doesn’t seem to be getting much better.
Disappointment..
The makers of Call of Duty: Vanguard have provided the multiplayer with a number of new elements. However, the basis remains an old-fashioned Call of Duty. And that element bothers me a bit. It feels quite the same. My very first game I immediately had a kill-death ratio of 27-6. And I honestly haven’t played Call of Duty in months. Now I don’t want to write that I’m that good or the other team that bad. But the fact that you start this CoD and actually immediately pick up where you left off with the previous parts. There are other weapons and of course the game looks different, with a World War II setting. However, the basics are the same, so it doesn’t feel very innovative.
I’m still looking forward to the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard and especially the zombie part and the single player. Because the Second World War remains an exciting setting for a CoD game. I therefore trust that the single player will be captivating again as usual.
However, based on the multiplayer, I would shrug. Now that may be a bit short sighted. Because the alpha is not yet the final product. Ultimately, the basis of the game will not be significantly different with the release of the game.
